Presentating a Cultural Village
Our school held its Cultural Day celebration on Thursday 6th, November 2025, and the entire compound was decorated and transformed into a colourful village of cultures.
A Call to Unity From the Proprietress
The event started with the national anthem and a welcome address by the PROPRIETORESS- Dr. Mrs Amakom, who reminded us that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity.
Parents, teachers, and pupils came dressed in the traditional attire of their ethnic groups, creating a beautiful mixture of colours and styles.
A Parade of Colours and Traditions
The Igbo group opened the event with an energetic traditional dance. Next, the Yoruba group, danced in, dressed in aso-oke and gele. The Hausa group followed in flowing kaftans and turbans, singing a traditional praise song that filled the compound with excitement.
The Efik pupils stepped forward with the graceful Ekombi dance, moving rhythmically in their lovely cultural attire, followed by the Ikwerre group. After them, came the Urhobo group.
The Edo group concluded the performances with a royal dance, beautifully dressed in coral beads that made them look like young princes and princesses.
Meal Galore in our Traditional ways
There was also a cultural food exhibition where local dishes such as banga soup, jollof rice, tuwo shinkafa, afang soup, amala, and many others were displayed.
The event ended with closing remarks by the cultural coordinator – Mrs Alice Tah. Everyone left the school premises feeling proud, excited, and more united.
The Cultural Day reminded us that even though we come from different ethnic groups, we are one big family.
